First, what is an Ombudsman?
In short, an ombudsman is an advocate for someone in need.
Florida's Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program provides ombudsmen who advocate for people who live in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and adult family care homes. All services are confidential and free of charge. There are 17 councils across Florida that provide this service to elderly individuals living in long-term care facilities. An ombudsman with Florida's program is trained and certified to assist residents with complaints and concerns and to ensure that elderly residents of long-term care facilities are treated with dignity and respect.
