Communities for a Lifetime - for Florida Youths and Elders

Communities for a Lifetime is a statewide initiative that assists in planning and implementing improvements that benefit both youth and elderly residents in Florida counties, cities, and towns. Manatee County, City of Bradenton, City of Anna Maria, and City of Holmes Beach participate in the program. Florida's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program SNAPS

Low income elderly people who live on fixed incomes may not be meeting their nutritional needs. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, known as SNAPS provides for food stamps to assist qualified individuals and families. Many elderly individuals who qualify for assistance are not receiving the available help. To apply for food stamps, contact your local Department of Children and Families. Many elderly seniors may feel reluctant to apply, due to believing it is a welfare program. However, SNAPS is a nutrition assistance program, not welfare.
